Wanting to bring peace to this community, one soul at a time
“Peace begins in our own souls. There are many paths to that inner peace. One very important one for me is music, especially classical music. I have found much joy and serenity at InConcert Sierra concerts. That’s why I am honored to be a part of bringing these concerts to others. It’s part of my effort to bring peace to this community, one soul at a time.”
Jim loved music from a very early age. It started with liturgical music. His parish had music at every Mass, and especially beautiful music around Easter and Christmas. Gregorian Chant sung in cathedral like settings moved him deeply. At age 14 a priest asked Jim to listen to an unidentified classical piece, describe what he was hearing and how it made him feel. Thus, an adolescent with no musical talent began a journey of musical discovery and appreciation that has lasted a lifetime. He discovered jazz as a young man and has been hooked on Jazz and Classical music ever since. In fact, all musical genres interest Jim. Well, almost all. Much of what his grandson has tried to introduce to him escapes him entirely.
Jim grew up in Chicago, graduated with a Business Degree, married, served in the military overseas, and had four sons while embarking on a long career in various aspects of Sales Training and Management Development, leading teams of Account Managers and Consultants. Later in his career he did private Management Consulting.
Jim and Janice moved to Nevada City at the end of 1999 after a five-year search for the best place to retire from the Bay Area. Since then Jim spent six long years as co owner of the Holbrooke Hotel, Janice helped found Hospitality House and Jim helped found Conflict Resolution Center of Nevada County. For the past 10 years they have been raising three of their grandchildren. Discovering InConcert Sierra has been a wonderful respite in a very full “retirement.”
