Music and the Human Spirit

“InConcert Sierra presents excellent monthly Third-Sunday Season concerts featuring world-class artists in a beautiful venue.  This high-caliber music is not a luxury in these times but a necessity, because it is music, which connects and unites people and provides inspiration which opens hearts and minds.  These concerts are produced on a relatively modest budget with a great part of our funds directly supporting the music.  We count on contributions from people like you, who love music and appreciate its benefits, to help us carry out our mission of exceptional, accessible and friendly concerts at very affordable prices.”
~ Joan Goddard

Joan Goddard has a lengthy classical music background, having started piano lessons at the age of five. She taught piano for forty years in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoyed an extensive church music career as an organist and director of four different choirs.  She brought her enthusiasm and appreciation for music with her when she came to Grass Valley and became a board member of Twin Cities Concert Association/ InConcert Sierra in 2000.

Joan believes that the resonance of beautiful music can elevate the human spirit and contribute to unity and harmony so badly needed in this world. For this reason she takes great pleasure and gratification in supporting, promoting and producing Third-Sunday Season concerts and every other musical offering of InConcert Sierra!

Joan’s interest in unity, the expansion of consciousness, and awareness not only manifests in her love of music, but also is the reason she loves her profession as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She relishes those moments that occur in both a concert hall and a therapy session where magic happens, people are moved, and the world changes!  Joan is an avid reader, plays in the garden, enjoys art galleries and museums, and travels with her friends and family.
